You might be wondering how starting a travel company in the midst of a global pandemic and an economic crisis was even on our lockdown to-do list. We know it sounds super crazy. And it is. More so when businesses in the tourism sector have shut shop and are now worrying about whether they’ll ever reopen. But, truth be told, it was the lack of other opportunities for skilled and motivated people in the Bhutanese tourism industry that sprung us to take a leap of faith and fill that gap.

The beginning, as you might have already sensed, wasn’t just fraught with logistic challenges for the team – especially for our proprietor Gyamtsho. He had to dig deep to come up with the capital – even sell, among other things, his personal property. Long story short, it wasn’t all hunky dory. It took immense planning, daredevilry, determination and going after the right people who will bring their expertise and their best into the mix. It was also about infusing the philosophy of Gross National Happiness to a brand of tourism that we believe will be sustainable, unique and fun.

After all, the overarching concept with Orog is that people avoid standardised, soulless destinations and discover amazing things for themselves. We celebrate difference at Orog, not repetitiousness. As such, we are hell bent on constantly reinventing ourselves to challenge the dullness and repetition of modern travel. We seek out warm and generous places with a connection to and knowledge of the local area. We also put a lot of emphasis on the awareness of environmental responsibility and responsible tourism. And when it comes to the essentials like rooms, beds, bathrooms and food, we ensure it is done with style and care. You can trust our hotels, homestays and outdoor camps will make you feel welcome, comfortable and indeed special.
With us, you’ll also find something extra. As is the hallmarks of our style, surprising touches of creativity, craft and personality will be the highlights of your stay and the things you take back with you.

Kuzuzangpo la!
It gives us immense pleasure to welcome you to our website. It also brings us joy that after all the hard work we’ve put into making this website, you have taken the time to browse through it and look at all the stunning array of holiday packages we have on offer.
Bhutan’s main attraction – apart from its breathtaking scenery, snowcapped mountains, unique architecture, and the philosophy of Gross National Happiness – is its people. Hospitable, warm, humble and curious, the Bhutanese people make Bhutan what it is. Century-old traditions and customs, deep-rooted spiritual practices, and the unique Bhutanese way of life all create a beautiful mélange waiting to be explored and revealed.
From cultural visits to magnificent monasteries and fortresses, trekking through breathtaking pristine forests and snowcapped peaks to experiencing life in a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse on a remote hamlet while fishing its meandering rivers, we arrange it all. Our strength lies in understanding the expectations of our guests and delivering them. Our in-depth local knowledge is what brings Bhutan’s age-old layers to life and we take immense pride in that.
We also remain committed to operating our tours and treks responsibly by monitoring and managing our environmental footprint whilst giving back to the communities that we operate in. So, if you decide to visit Bhutan with us then drop us a mail. We look forward to seeing you.
Tashi Delek!
