THE VALUE OF FOUR DISTINCT SEASONS IN BHUTAN
Bhutan is among the blessed nations that have seasonal diversity. You can notice the different months of winter, summer, fall, and spring, making the climate in Bhutan mesmerizing and a perfect destination to visit.
Springtime in Bhutan is a botanist’s delight as rhododendrons, wild azaleas and wildflowers including the edelweiss cover the meadows like a carpet of flowers. Pear and apple blossoms add a dainty touch to the valleys as their pink and white blooms add a sense of wonder to the land seemingly about to burst into a myriad of hues.
Then comes the summer and with it the monsoons. But then again, it is also a time of abundance as flowers are in full bloom and the Bhutanese landscape is covered in a carpet of green as weeping willows sweep the banks of rivers and pine cones glisten in the sun as if ready to let go and plummet to the ground.
Summer gives way to autumn. Autumn is a time when the country is cast with a bright golden glow. It is also a time that is crowded for tourism in Bhutan – and why not? The fall ushers in the golden hues of ripened rice fields that seem almost brown under crisp blue skies. And the merry pink and white of cosmos flowers dot the Bhutanese countryside.
Then comes winter. Winter in Bhutan has its moments too. While the nights are extremely cold, the days are filled with sunshine. Harsh as it may be, the wintry landscape lays bare the majesty of the mountains and the sweeping valleys. Soft tufts of cloud drape lazily over mountaintops as if waiting for new life to touch it, caress it, perhaps, even move it aside.
